New Delhi : The halted air travel between India and Britain due to the new type of Coronavirus will resume from 6 January. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said on Saturday that flights from India to Britain will start from January 6, while flights from Britain to India will start on January 8. Hardeep Singh Puri said that till January 23, 15-15 flights will be operated every week.

On Friday, Puri said that air travel between the two countries will start from January 8. Indian and British airlines will operate 15 flights per week during the above period only from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad (to the UK) and (from UK to India) to these cities. More than 60 passenger flights were operated per week between the two countries in December.

However, the aviation ministry has suspended all passenger flights between the two countries since 23 December. The move was taken as a precaution after a new strain of the coronavirus was found in Britain. Puri had announced on Wednesday that passenger flights between India and Britain would be postponed until January 7 and would be restored following strict regulations. Earlier (flight) suspension period was from 23 December to 31 December.
