New Delhi : The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) has now issued new rules for playing cricket in India. In fact, India will not be able to use saliva on the ball during the 2020-21 domestic season, starting next month. Given the threat of Covid19, it would have been forbidden to apply saliva to the ball. According to a Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) official, the 30-page protocol has been sent to state cricket organisations ahead of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 Championship starting on January 10.

BCCI’s new rules –
– With this T20 tournament, India is going to start the 2020-21 domestic season. This session is being held much later due to the outbreak of Covid-19. In the BCCI issued protocol regarding the new domestic season, it was printed in bold letters that ‘no saliva can be used on cricket balls’.

– If the cricket ball is handled by someone who is not part of the bio-safe environment during the training session or match of the domestic season, the umpire or team staff must sanitise it before the ball is handed to the players.

– The protocol calls for creating a bio-safe environment during match venues, hotels, training venues and transportation. These environments will be prepared for the players as well as the team’s support staff, match officials, match and venue management groups, broadcast commentators and other personnel.

– All the participants of the matches will be set aside for six days in the fixed hotels after arrival in the respective city and they will have to check the Covid-19 by RT-PCR method on the first, third and sixth days of arrival. They will be allowed to enter a bio-safe environment only if they are found to be free from infection.

– Supporting staff and team will be able to go out of a bio safe environment only in unavoidable circumstances. They will have to seek the permission of his team doctor before leaving this environment.

– BCCI will take disciplinary action against players and support staff of the team for violation of defense guidelines from Covid-19.
