New Delhi : The way in which the minority girls in Pakistan are kidnapped and converted to Islam, this thing is not hidden from the world. The kidnappers forcibly pick up the girls at gunpoint and then forcibly convert them and marry them with an elderly person or several times older than that girl. One of these victims is Neha (name changed). Neha loved music in the church and she used to sing there every year. However, she could not sing in church last year.

The reason for this was his forced conversion to Islam at the age of 14 and then she was married to a 45-year-old man who is already the father of 2 children.

Neha shared her story in a slow voice. She had tied her face tightly with a scarf. Neha’s middle-aged husband is jailed for raping a minor girl. But, she is still hiding and scared because the security guards threatened her brother with a gun in the court.

The Associated Press did not reveal Neha’s real name for security reasons. Neha said- He had brought a gun so that he could shoot me.

Neha is among those 1000 minority girls who are converted to Islam every year in Pakistan. Most of them are those whose age is legally eligible for marriage.

Human rights activists say that these things came to light when the coronavirus lockdown was imposed and most of the girls were in their homes due to the closure of the school.

The US State Department this month called Pakistan a country violating religious freedom, which was rejected by the Government of Pakistan. The announcement was made on the basis of the report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, which stated that minor girls from Hindu, Sikh and Christian communities are forcibly abducted to convert to Islam and then forcibly married, which becomes a rape case.

However, in most of the southern Sindh province, Hindu girls face cases of conversion. But, two new cases in which 2 Christian conversion cases, including Neha, have come up in recent months. Often those people kidnap girls who have problems in their family or who are looking for brides. Sometimes this is done on behalf of the powerful landlord, when his borrower is unable to repay the loan.
