New Delhi : The first driverless metro in the country will run on the Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden Corridor (37 km distance) on the Magenta Line of Delhi Metro. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the metro at 11 am via video conferencing. In addition, the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) service will also be launched on the Airport Express Line.

According to DMRC, with the operation of driverless metro, the name of Delhi Metro will be included in the world’s leading metro service. A driverless metro is also expected to be launched within a radius of 57 km on the Pink Line (Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar) by June 2021. Accordingly, passengers will get a chance to travel in a driverless metro within 94 km radius.

It will make up about 7 percent of the driverless metro network worldwide. This service will be fully automated. This will not only minimize human intervention but also have negligible chances of errors. Availability of a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) will also be a major achievement for Metro. With the introduction of this service, you can travel on the Airport Express line from the card received from any corner of the country. By the year 2022, commuters will get a chance to travel with the Common Mobility Card on all the lines of the metro.

Millions of passengers from west and south Delhi will get relief
The introduction of driverless metro services from Janakpuri to Noida Botanical Gardens on the Magenta Line will provide considerable relief. Millions of passengers travel on this corridor, most of which are employed in leading companies of Noida including IT companies. Being punctual will be particularly restrictive. If there is a delay then the speed can be changed further so that the passengers do not be late.

If the waiting time in Delhi Metro is more than 20 minutes at a station, then information is given through social sites. If there is a delay at a station on this line, due to the automated service, passengers will continue to get information simultaneously.

The deputation of the drivers will be done in the operation of the metro, but they will be gradually withdrawn later. DMRC is also taking steps forward after the accident during the trial three years ago to protect the passengers.
