Night curfew causes loss of Rs 1000 crore to hotel industry in Gujarat

Ahmedabad : After Diwali, night curfew has been imposed in four major cities of the state and the hotel and restaurant business has started to suffer. The industry is losing Rs 1,000 crore a month. While 70 thousand people have become unemployed. The hotel association has demanded that the government take a decision soon so that these people do not become unemployed and turn to crime.

The city’s restaurant owners say the 4 cities together have an estimated 5,000 to 7,000 restaurants and 500 hotels. The curfew is causing an estimated monthly loss of Rs 1,000 crore due to non-arrival of customers.

70,000 became unemployed as the industry remained closed
Narendra Somani, President, Hotel and Restaurant Association of Gujarat, said that the government of Hotel Association demanded that the industry will be able to survive if the hotel-restaurant is allowed to continue till 11 pm and take away for 24 hours.
