New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been given the ‘Legion of Merit’ Award by President Donald Trump of America. This award has been given to Modi for his leadership in enhancing the US-India strategic partnership. Indian Ambassador to the US Sandhu Taranjit accepted this award on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
‘Legion of Merit’ Award was first given in 1942. One of America’s most respected awards is given to a US Army officer, or a person who does something great for the country, or the head of another country.
US National Security Advisor (NSA) Robert O’Brien wrote in his tweet that President Donald Trump has honored the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi with the ‘Legion of Merit’. This honour has been given for the way Modi has brought India to the world stage and strengthened the India-US relationship.

Ministry of External Affairs said on giving the Legion of Merit Award to PM Modi by US President Donald Trump –
“The leadership of PM Modi and his vision to make India a global power is respected. Honour his contribution in carrying forward bilateral relations with America.”
Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this time this honour has been given to Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison and former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
